About Us

ELATI BAN' EKENGE-North America, Inc also known as EKENGE CULTURAL AND DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION, North America or Elati Ban' Ekenge Family Meeting is, an association organized exclusively for cultural, developmental, and charitable purposes within the meaning of section 501c(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or the corresponding section of any future federal tax code of 1954 as it is currently and shall hereafter be in force and effect. The association is not organized, nor shall it be operated for the primary purpose of generating pecuniary gain or profit.

MISSION
To preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Ekenge Village, Cameroon, among its members in North America. We are dedicated to fostering unity, love, and service within our community while advancing the socio-economic development of Ekenge Village and its people. Through cultural exchange & preservation, community empowerment, and charitable endeavors, we aim to create a vibrant and supportive association that uplifts our members and contributes positively to the well-being of Ekenge, both in North America and in our homeland.

Our vision is to be a beacon of unity, love, and service, upholding (or sharing) and promoting our rich Ekenge culture while making a meaningful impact on the lives of our people and the broader community.

Our Values

Cultural Preservation: The ELATI BAN' EKENGE-North America, Inc places a strong emphasis in promoting the culture of Ekenge, Cameroon through coordination, partnership, and cultural exchange activities.
Unity: Unity is one of the core values, as indicated in the association's motto. It seeks to unite all sons and daughters of Ekenge and their spouses in the United States, fostering a sense of togetherness and community.
Love: Love is another fundamental value, emphasizing the importance of care and compassion among members. This value likely extends to the love for Ekenge culture and the well-being of its people.
Service: The association is committed to service, both to its members and the broader community. This includes providing assistance to the poor, disabled, and disadvantaged individuals without discrimination.
Self-Reliant Development: The association values self-reliant development to enhance the living standards of the people of Ekenge. This implies a commitment to empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Membership

The association has three types of membership:

Full Membership: Open to individuals with a connection to Ekenge, whether by birth, adoption, or marriage, who adhere to the association's principles and pay membership fees.

Associate Membership: Available to those who have lived, worked, studied in Ekenge, or have other close connections with Ekenge. They have some privileges but cannot vote for executive members or run for elected office.

Honorary Membership: Conferred to individuals or organizations showing extraordinary interest in the association and its objectives.
